At 1154, whilst already out on exercise, the lifeboat was requested to assist the 16' angling dinghy "Mudskipper", broken down with gearbox  failure off Herne Bay.

The casualty was asked to fire a red flare, which confirmed it's location as west of Herne Bay pier head, and it was then taken in tow by the lifeboat to Herne Bay harbour.
