The lifeboat launched initially to a capsized
Mirror dinghy near Herne Bay pier head. The occupants were already safely
ashore, so the dinghy was towed to the launching ramp at Herne Bay harbour.
Whilst returning to station, the lifeboat was
diverted to a 22' sailing yacht off Seasalter. It's engine had failed, and
the single occupant was having difficulty sailing in the choppy
conditions. A crewman was put aboard to help, and the yacht towed to
Faversham creek.
As the lifeboat was returning to station, reports
were received of another yacht with engine failure, this time aground near
the Sand End Buoy. This yacht was also taken under tow to it's mooring.
