The lifeboat launched to assist a windsurfer reportedly in difficulties off the Long Beach, Whitstable.  However, when the lifeboat arrived on scene it was found that the windsurfer was OK, and not in need of any assistance.  

The lifeboat was then diverted to a 32' motor cruiser "Set Square", with 4 pob, which had suffered a seized engine off Shell Ness, in the Swale. The craft was taken in tow for Harty Ferry, Faversham.
