Whitstable Lifeboat, Sheerness Lifeboat, Margate Lifeboat, Walton Lifeboat, an RAF SeaKing helicopter from Wattisham, and a fixed wing coastguard aircraft from Manston all resumed the search for the men missing from Whitstable since yesterday morning. Coastguard shore teams also searched the beaches.

Due to the time that had elapsed the search area now covered much of the Thames Estuary and extended out into the English Channel.

At approximately 1000, a cargo vessel reported seeing a small boat with two people on board waving for assistance 24 miles east of Ramsgate.

A Belgian rescue helicopter went to the position, and recovered the casualties, who were then landed ashore at Dover Coastguard Station. Once the identities of the men were confirmed, all the lifeboats and other units were released to return to station.
