The lifeboat launched to assist the yacht "Macaroo"
aground on The Ridge, a sandbank 10 miles north east of Whitstable.
The Motor Vessel ‘Conformity’ which was
at anchor in the vicinity and had visual contact with the casualty
assisted in directing the lifeboat to the yacht's location.
After ascertaining that the seven occupants were all well and that they
were waiting for the tide to lift them off the sandbank, the lifeboat then
assisted by placing the yacht's anchors further out.
The lifeboat then left the scene and returned to station. The yacht was
on passage from London to Ramsgate when it went aground.
