Thames Coastguard requested the lifeboat to launch to go to the
aid of the 35' yacht "Enya", with two people on board, taking in
water and sinking 4 miles north of Whitstable.
The lifeboat came alongside the yacht and crewman Richard Curtis was
put aboard. He assisted the occupants with bailing and pumping out the
water, and the yacht began heading for Whitstable, escorted by the
lifeboat.
An hour later the yacht was secured alongside in the harbour, and
lifeboat crew members went aboard with a salvage pump to clear the
remaining water.
