Details

The lifeboat launched to assist the 28' yacht "Red Rum", with engine failure and unable to set sails, 1 mile off Warden Point, Isle of Sheppey. A crewman was put aboard and, owing to the state of the tide (low water), a tow was commenced towards Queenborough.

Sheerness Lifeboat then met Whitstable Lifeboat off Minster, and took over the tow.
