Thames CG requested the lifeboat to launch to assist a swimmer in difficulties off Whitstable Harbour. He had swum out from the beach near the Yacht Club, but was now struggling to get back against the tide.

The lifeboat launched and commenced a search eastwards from the harbour entrance. However, after approximately ten minutes it was  confirmed that the swimmer had managed to reach the shore, so the lifeboat returned to station.
