The
lifeboat launched to assist a speedboat, which was seen from the shore to
be broken down and drifting off Herne Bay Pier Head.
When
the lifeboat arrived the speedboat was found inside Herne Bay Harbour,
having been able to make its own way ashore.
It
transpired that the reason the craft had broken down was that it had run
out of fuel. The occupants were able to wave for assistance to a passing
jetski, who went ashore to collect some more petrol, which he then brought
out to them.
The
speedboat crew was met by the Herne Bay Mobile Coastguard Unit, who gave
safety advice.
