The lifeboat was launched to assist a speedboat, with three people on board, waving for assistance off Herne Bay Pier head.

As the lifeboat was proceeding Thames CG reported that the craft was now being towed by a passing fishing boat. 

A short while later, Herne Bay mobile coastguard unit arrived on scene to confirm that the broken down craft was now safely ashore, and the lifeboat was released to return to station.
