The lifeboat launched to assist the 33' yacht Cimor,
aground on a mud bank in the Swale.
The lifeboat arrived on scene just before high
water, and was able to get alongside, even though the tide was not high
enough to refloat the yacht.
The lifeboat crew laid out the yacht's anchor, and
then brought the two occupants aboard, landing them ashore at the lifeboat
station.
The yacht, which had been on passage from Conyer to
Ramsgate, had gone aground just after high water the
previous evening, but the tide the following morning did not rise
sufficiently to refloat her. When it became apparent that she would not
refloat on the next tide either, the two people on board had requested to
be landed ashore, as they had run out of food and water.
