The lifeboat launched following a report of a small white dinghy with one person on board drifting, and presumed broken down, off the Ship pub in Herne Bay.

When the lifeboat arrived on scene nothing appeared untoward, so a brief search was carried out with Herne Bay Mobile coastguard unit searching the shoreline.

However nothing was found and it was presumed that the dinghy had made the shore unaided prior to the lifeboats arrival.
