Thames Coastguard requested the lifeboat to launch following the discovery of clothing and medication on the sea wall near the Horsebridge, Whitstable. Police and coastguards also carried out a search of the beach.

The lifeboat searched between Admiralty Walk, Seasalter, and Long Rock. However, with failing daylight, and nothing further having been found, the lifeboat was released to return to station, and the search was terminated.
