Thames CG requested the lifeboat to launch to carry out a search for a person believed to be in the water following the discovery of some clothing on the beach near Whitstable Yacht Club.

Herne Bay Coastguard Team also commenced a search of the foreshore.

The lifeboat searched from the Oyster Stores westwards to Seaslater, then eastwards as far as Tankerton Slopes.

At 2044 the lifeboat was released to return to station, with the shore search by the coastguards continuing.
