The lifboat launched
to assist the 17' fishing vessel Jacko, with one person on board,
broken down with fuel line problems 3/4 mile off Reculver.
The
lifeboat located the casualty vessel at 22.55 . Before beginning the
tow the crew spent some considerable time helping the skipper to haul in
his nets.
Once
under tow the Jacko started shipping water over the bow. Some nets
and other gear were moved aft to help the situation, but even so the
lifeboat was only able to average two knots.
The
lifeboat crew landed the Jacko and her owner ashore at Neptune
Slipway where the Herne Bay Mobile Coastguard Unit were waiting and
assisted with the recovery of the fishing dinghy into its trailer
The
lifeboat was then able to return to station after an operation lasting
over three hours.
