The lifeboat launched following a 999 call to Thames Coastguard reporting a child in the water off Whitstable Harbour, with his father having entered the water to rescue him.

On arrival the lifeboat crew found a father and his 10 year old son, both with windsurfing boards, being assisted ashore by the Sailing School safety boat.

The crew spoke to the first informant, who was fishing on the West Quay. He confirmed that these were the people he had reported, and the lifeboat returned to station.
