Thames CG requested the immediate launch of the lifeboat following a 999 call reporting a man in the sea under Herne Bay Pier.

On arrival the lifeboat crew found the man sitting on rocks approx. 30 yards from the shore, having managed to climb out of  the water.

He was brought aboard the lifeboat and landed ashore to an ambulance. 

Although very cold, he was otherwise unharmed.
