Whilst on exercise in the Swale, Thames CG requested the lifeboat to proceed immediately to Reculver, where a man had gone into the sea in an attempt to retrieve his dog.

The lifeboat made best possible speed in the conditions, but whilst passing the Columbine Spit Buoy, the Coastguard reported that man and god were now safely ashore.

The lifeboat then continued on exercise.
