The lifeboat launched to search for a depressed and
suicidal female missing from a hospital in Canterbury. Herne Bay
Coastguard and Kent Police were also searching.
The lifeboat searched along the shoreline from
Hampton to Bishopstone Glen, then back towards Herne Bay and Whitstable.
At 1145, with the lifeboat off Seasalter, members of
the lifeboat crew who were waiting at the boathouse noticed a woman acting
strangely on the West Quay of Whitstable Harbour. Along with the
Coastguard Sector Manager they went to speak to her, identified her as the
missing person, and persuaded her to leave the quay.
She was brought into the boathouse, and subsequently
taken into the care of the Police for her own protection.
