The lifeboat was launched to a capsized sailing dinghy off Beacon Hill, Herne Bay, with the occupant having become separated from the craft.

Prior to the lifeboat's arrival the dinghy had already been taken in tow by the Herne Bay Sailing Club rescue boat, and the occupant recovered, so the lifeboat stood by until they were safely ashore.
