Thames CG requested the lifeboat to launch following a report of a yacht drifting in the entrance to the Swale.

The lifeboat located the yacht SE of Shell Ness. There was no one aboard, the cabin doors were locked, and it appeared that it had broken adrift from its mooring.

The yacht was therefore taken under tow, and moored alongside in Whitstable Harbour.
