Date 8th July 2006
Casualty Yacht King Quest, and a swimmer
Wind Sw 2-3
Launch time 1320
Recovery time 1430
Crew Brian Foad, Jon Carter, Martin Easton
Details

The lifeboat launched to assist the 26' yacht King Quest, aground on the Horse Sand in the Swale, between Whitstable and Faversham.

The yacht was too hard aground to attempt to tow off, so the lifeboat crew laid out the yacht's anchor to assist it to refloat when the tide flooded.

As they finished doing so, Thames CG requested the lifeboat to proceed immediately to Tankerton, where a swimmer was reported in difficulty.

On arrival the crew found that the swimmer, although a fair way from the shore, was still within his depth, due to the state of the tide, and not in need of any assistance.
