The lifeboat launched initially to a report of a
windsurfer in difficulties half a mile north of the Marine Hotel,
Tankerton.
The casualty, who had becone exhausted, was brought
aboard the lifeboat, and landed ashore at the Long Beach.
Thames Coastguard then requested the lifeboat to
check on some jetskis between Hampton and Herne bay Pier. They were found
not to be in need of any assistance, but they were advised on the local
bylaws.
Whilst returning to station, the lifeboat crew
observed a Topper sailing dinghy a mile off Hampton. The single female
occupant was trying to sail back to shore, but making no headway against
the freshening wind.
She and the boat were brought aboard the lifeboat,
and taken to Tankerton Bay Sailing Club.
