The lifeboat launched to assist the 30' motor cruiser Amaltheus, experiencing engine problems three miles off Leysdown. Her engine would only run for a couple of minutes at a time due to fuel problems.

The lifeboat took the craft, with two people on board, under tow, and moored her alongside in Whitstable Harbour an hour later.
