The lifeboat launched to a report of an object, possibly an upturned dinghy, reported floating one mile off Leysdown. Sheppey Coastguards had the object visual, but could not see precisely what it was.

After a protracted search, which was made more difficult due to the very low state of tide, the object was identified as a tent.
