Details

The lifeboat launched to a 23' angling boat Bonny Lass with 2 people on board reported broken down near the South Margate Buoy.

On arrival the craft was found drifting half a mile off Minnis Bay. It was taken under tow initially towards Herne Bay, where the skipper had requested to be taken. However, progress was very slow against the fresh breeze and an adverse tide, so course was set instead for Margate.

Bonny Lass was moored alongside in Margate Harbour, and the lifeboat then set out to return to station.

On the return passage the lifeboat came across a 14' speedboat off Tankerton, which had suffered engine failure.

The craft, with three teenagers on board, was taken in tow, and landed at the launching ramp at Whitstable Harbour.
