Details

The lifeboat launched after members of the public informed crew members at the boathouse of a capsized canoe 300 yds off the Neptune Pub, Whitstable. The occupant, an 8 year old boy,  was in the water, waving for assistance.

When the lifeboat arrived, the boy was being taken ashore by a member of the public who had swum out to assist. After checking they were both OK, the lifeboat recovered the canoe and paddle, and landed them on the beach.

The lifeboat was then alerted to a dismasted Tasar sailing dinghy, 400 yards offshore. The lifeboat took the dinghy under tow and landed the craft and its two occupants ashore at Whitstable Yacht Club.
