Whitstable Lifeboat was launched to search the Swale following a sighting of red flares reported to Thames Coastguard.

The lifeboat searched from between Fowley Island and Milton Creek, whilst Sheppey Coastguards searched along the south shore of the Isle of Sheppey.

After a two hour search, with nothing untoward found, the lifeboat returned to station.
