Thames Coastguard requested the lifeboat to launch to a report of a kitesurfer in difficulties off Longrock Beach, Swalecliffe.

The lifeboat crew located the casualty three hundred yards offshore. He had been down in the water for some time, and his ankles had become entangled in the kite's cords.

Once he had been disentangled, the man and his gear were brought aboard, and landed back at the lifeboat station.
