Thames CG requested the lifeboat to launch to assist  the fishing vessel Danny Boy, 5 miles NE of Whitstable. 

The boat was disabled, with fishing gear around her propeller. By the time the lifeboat arrived the two occupants had freed the gear, however they were unable to make progress as the engine mountings had sheared.

The lifeboat took the Danny Boy under tow and, due to the low state of the tide, left her anchored near the Oyster Buoy off Whitstable Harbour.
