Details

The lifeboat launched to assist a jetski broken down off Leysdown, with someone having  swum out to assist.

The lifeboat arrived at the scene at 16. 35 and found a speedboat alongside the casualties 400 yards offshore.

Both the jet ski rider and the swimmer were suffering from cold and had been taken onboard the speedboat but were transferred to the lifeboat and wrapped in thermal blankets.

The jet ski was taken under tow and the lifeboat crew requested an ambulance to attend at the shore.

At 16.41 the casualties were landed ashore to await the ambulance whilst the jet ski was handed over to another in their party.

An ambulance crew arrived and stayed with the two casualties for some time until they had warmed up however neither needed hospital treatment. The two, brothers aged 22 and 19, came from Dagenham.

Whitstable Lifeboat then returned to station but en-route was requested by Thames Coastguard to search for a work boat drifting off Tankerton having broken from its mooring.

The lifeboat crew located the unoccupied craft a ½-mile off the Tankerton Bay Sailing Club and returned it to its mooring off the Long Beach.
