Whitstable Lifeboat was launched at 0338 following a report of a female who had fallen over the cliffs between Bishopstone and Reculver.

Due to the low state of the tide the lifeboat was unable to approach the beach at the foot of the cliffs near to the former coastguard lookout station but the Herne Bay Mobile Coastguard Unit and Kent Ambulance Paramedics were already at the scene and the R.A.F Sea King Helicopter from Wattisham was heading to assist and subsequently airlifted the casualty to hospital in Margate.

After standing by offshore during the operation by the helicopter the lifeboat then returned to station.
