The lifeboat launched to a report of three children in an inflatable in difficulties off the Bun Penny pub, Herne Bay.

The lifeboat located the craft 200 yards offshore, tied to a speed limit buoy. The three occupants stated they were not in need of any assistance, and would stay where they were until the tide went out.

However, as this would not be for some considerable time, they were persuaded to come aboard the lifeboat, and they and their dinghy were landed ashore to be met by Herne Bay Mobile Coastguard Unit.
