The lifeboat was launched
after a 12-foot sailing dinghy with two occupants onboard repeatedly
capsized off Whitstable after its buoyancy tank became flooded.
The lifeboat arrived at
the scene a ½-mile off the Whitstable Yacht club. However the two
occupants, a 69-year old man and his seven-year old grandson, had already
been taken ashore by passing windsurfers.
The semi-submerged and
inverted craft was taken under-tow by the lifeboat and landed ashore at
the harbour ramp where a lifeboat shore party was waiting to assist with
the craft's recovery.
