Details

Thames CG requested the lifeboat to launch following a 999 call from someone ashore reporting two people cut off by the tide on Whitstable Street (a long shingle spit to the east of the harbour).

When the lifeboat arrived on scene it was found that the two people were in fact anglers, and were not in need of any assistance.

The lifeboat therefore returned to station, with the launch classified as a "false alarm with good intent".
