The lifeboat launched to a report of a
capsized Mirror sailing dinghy half a mile off Preston Parade, Seasalter.
On arrival the dinghy was found to be
totally inverted, with the occupant sitting on the upturned hull. As he
was quite cold, he was brought aboard the lifeboat and placed in a
survival bag to warm him up.
The lifeboat crew then righted the dinghy,
and towed it alongside the lifeboat back to the beach.
The occupant and dinghy were landed ashore
at Preston Parade, where they were met by Herne Bay Coastguard and a
member of the sailor's family.
The lifeboat then returned to
station.
