The lifeboat launched to a report of a kitesurfer in difficulties 1/4 mile off Shell Ness beach, Leysdown, Isle of Sheppey.

When the lifeboat arrived the kitesurfer was found standing in shallow water, trying to untangle his kite after having been able to reach the shore. However, he had become separated from his board, which was floating around 300 yards offshore. 

This was recovered by the lifeboat and returned to him, after which he continued sailing, and the lifeboat returned to station.
