Thames Coastguard requested the launch of
Whitstable Lifeboat, along with Sheerness Inshore Lifeboat,
following a large disturbance on the beach at Leysdown, Isle of
Sheppey.
Kent Police had reported that two people
were missing after the incident, and it was feared that they may have gone
into the sea.
The lifeboats searched close inshore
between Leysdown and Warden Bay, whilst Sheppey Coastguards carried out a
shoreline search, and a police helicopter searched overhead using an
infra-red camera.
At 0130 the police confirmed that everyone
had now been accounted for, and all units were stood down to return to
station.
