Whitstable Lifeboat Station’s busy start to 2008 continued when the lifeboat Oxford Town and Gown was launched at 13.05 to assist an angling dinghy off Reculver after its engine failed to restart.

The lifeboat crew located the 14-foot craft 1 1/2-miles offshore and towed the vessel to Herne Bay harbour where the Herne Bay Coastguard was waiting and the lifeboat returned to station.
