Whitstable Lifeboat had its first call of the year when, shortly after launching on exercise, the lifeboat investigated a yacht observed from the boathouse off Whitstable , and possibly adrift.

On inspection the lifeboat crew found the craft with its cabin locked and a mooring chain overboard but unattached to a mooring or anchor and showing signs of having broken adrift.

The lifeboat towed the craft to a mooring off Whitstable, and the owner was subsequently contacted.
