The lifeboat launched to a speedboat broken down and taking in water near Hampton Pier.

On arrival the craft was found drifting with engine failure, the water having only been coming into the boat through a fractured cooling pipe, whilst the engine was running.

The craft was taken in tow and landed ashore at Herne Bay harbour.
