The lifeboat launched to a report of a dog having swum a long way out from the beach at Long Rock, Swalecliffe, with people swimming out to try to rescue it.

By the time the lifeboat arrived on scene the dog, and people, had made it ashore.

Herne Bay Coastguard was also in attendance, and safety advice was given to all concerned.

The lifeboat then returned to station.
