The lifeboat launched following a report of an empty dinghy drifting half a mile off the Neptune pub, Whitstable.

The lifeboat arrived alongside the dinghy to find that it was in a poor condition, with no signs of recent occupation.

It was therefore taken in tow back to the beach in front of the boathouse, and handed over to the responsibility of Herne Bay Coastguard.
