Themes Coastguard requested the launch of both
Whitstable Lifeboat and the Sheerness D class inshore lifeboat to go to
the assistance of two, or possibly three, windsurfers in difficulties off
Minster, Isle of Sheppey.
When Whitstable Lifeboat arrived on scene Sheerness
ILB had already recovered the windsurfers aboard. One was dropped off
close inshore near the boom, to make his own way ashore, the other
remained aboard the ILB and landed on the beach at Barton's Point.
Once it had been ascertained that there were no
other windsurfers in difficulties, Whitstable Lifeboat was released to
return to station.
