The lifeboat launched to a report of four men missing in an inflatable dinghy off Beltinge.

An RAF Sea King helicopter was on exercise nearby, and was also tasked to the incident. The helicopter was on scene four minutes later, and reported that the dinghy was now safely ashore.

The lifeboat, which by this time was abeam of Hampton, was therefore stood down, and returned to station.
