The lifeboat launched to search for four fishermen, in
two dinghies, lost in dense fog off Herne Bay.
The lifeboat headed initially for Hampton Pier, where
Herne Bay Coastguard and Kent Police were in attendance, and had heard the
fishermen shouting. Thames Coastguard were in mobile phone contact with the
men, who reported at one stage that they could hear the lifeboat's engines.
After approximately an hour, the fishermen found their
own way ashore at Hampton Pier Car Park. Herne Bay Coastguard met them to
take details, and the lifeboat returned to station.
