During a training exercise with an RNLI Deputy Divisional Inspector on board, the lifeboat was diverted to assist four people aboard a Laser Pico sailing dinghy just north of the boathouse. They were unable to make headway after the mast became detached.

The occupants were brought aboard the lifeboat, and the dinghy taken in tow for the Yacht Club ramp.

The lifeboat then continued with its exercise.
