The lifeboat launched to assist a motor boat reported broken down just east of the Pier Pavillion, Herne Bay. A council lifeguard had paddled out on  a rescue ski and was alongside the casualty.

On arrival it was found that a jetski had taken the motor boat in tow, and was heading with it  towards Herne Bay Harbour.

However the lifeguard was still some was off shore, and struggling to row his rescue ski back to shore against the fresh offshore breeze.

He and his ski were therefore brought aboard the lifeboat, and landed ashore at the lifeguard hut.
