The lifeboat launched to assist a 26' yacht 2 miles north of Beltinge. The yacht, on passage from Calais to Thurrock, had been motoring,  but had then suffered gearbox problems, and could not sail due to lack of wind.

The lifeboat placed a crewman on board, then took the yacht in tow for Whitstable. The tide was too low to enter the harbour, therefore the yacht was anchored off the Long Beach, with the owner remaining on board.

The lifeboat then returned to her carriage.
