Whilst at sea on a routine training exercise, Thames Coastguard requested the lifeboat to proceed to Herne Bay, following a report of a dinghy, with three people on board, broken down near the pier head.

The lifeboat found the dinghy 100 yards off the launching ramp inside Herne Bay harbour, having been able to restart its engine.

The lifeboat therefore continued on exercise, whilst Herne Bay Coastguard spoke to the occupants of the dinghy.
